Safety

Our vision is to achieve zero harm through the effective management of safety, health and environmental risk in all our managed operations

We believe our employees are our most valuable resources and we do not accept that it is necessary for current employees to lose their lives, be injured or become ill whilst working.

We shall be successful in our vision when “Home Without Harm, Everyone Every Day” becomes a way of life in everything we do both at home and in the workplace.

We live our SHE Management Policy

Our Principles

Safety is one of the core values in the Group never to be compromised under any circumstances.

DSE is committed to:

Demonstrate SHE leadership in all stages during construction and operation processes.

·                     Ensuring that a systematic approach is taken to the management of SHE risk and hazards.

 ·                    Monitoring, reporting on and benchmarking SHE at the site, project, business unit and operating group levels to improve and compare SHE performance.

·                     Ensuring appropriate SHE training for all employees.

·                     Conducting regular audits of SHE procedures and standards to assess compliance.

·                     Developing a strong SHE culture and instilling in its employees a commitment to safety and care of all employees, sub-contractors, visitors, business partners and the environment.

·                     Ensuring that measures are implemented to identify, assess and control risk to SHE at all workplaces and that all persons take reasonable care to ensure that they comply with their SHE responsibilities.

·                     All injuries could be prevented.

·                     Safe work must be reinforced and unsafe acts and conditions must be corrected.

·                     Safety is a condition of employment.

Reporting of near misses are critical in our company.  Improvement was seen in our lost time injury rate.  DSE believes in full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and its regulations and bylaws.

To improve on our safety we are running a behaviour based system (Be Your Brothers Keeper)

Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) Processes is a pro active process to identify hazards and assess risk in the workplace.  All current risk assessments are being reviewed and will be revised if necessary.

Full SHE induction is done with all existing and new employees, contractors and visitors which also includes the “Meerkat Way”.

We Implemented a Incentive Awareness Scheme “Best Safety Performer For The Month and Year”.  The Employees are nominated through acts of safety in the work place and general safety awareness in their section.  During communication sessions the employee receives a certificate with a trophy, they are then entered into a draw and the winner of the draw at the end of the year “Safety Performer Of The Year” and a award is given to him.  This year the winner received two soccer tickets to the opening mach of the soccer world cup.
